Hello! Today we’re going to compare the new Redmi Note 9 Pro with its main competitor – the Realme 6 Pro. It’s going to be a hot battle.
The front panel of the Redmi Note 9 Pro is hard to distinguish from other modern smartphones. It has a large screen, a bezel-less design and a small chin. There is a small hole cut in the center for the front camera. There is a USB Type-C connector, a speaker, a conversational microphone and a 3.5mm jack on the bottom edge of the smartphone with a noise canceling microphone and a speaker on top. The volume rocker and the power button are on the right. There is a slot for a SIM card and SD-flash drive on the left. The Note 9 Pro has a power button combined with a fingerprint scanner. In my opinion, this is very convenient. The scanner works faultlessly and quickly.
The cameras on the back of the Redmi Note 9 Pro are located on a square platform in the center. The back panel is glass, the frame is plastic. The phone is available in blue, black and white color. The rear panel changes color shades at different angles.
Almost the entire front panel of the Realme 6 Pro is occupied by a huge screen with narrow bezels and a small chin. In the upper left corner of the display there is a large cutout for two front cameras. As for me, this is a disadvantage of the smartphone. It also has a USB Type-C connector, a speaker, a spoken microphone and a headphone jack on the bottom and an additional microphone on the top. The power button combined with a fingerprint scanner is on the right side. The sensor also responds quickly and accurately. The volume keys are on the left, as well as the tray for SIM cards and SD-flash drives, which can be installed in a separate slot.
The four cameras on the back of the Realme 6 Pro are arranged in one row in the upper left corner. The back of the Realme is also made of glass with a plastic frame. On the back there is a drawing that vaguely resembles lightning. That is why the different colors are poetically named “blue lightning”, “red lightning” and “orange lightning”.
Both smartphones have a modern design. For me, the Realme 6 Pro lightnings are a bit too much, but some people would find it interesting. What about you? Do you like this design? In general, do you prefer a brighter or more modest smartphone design? Write a comment below this video.
The smartphones have large screens of the same resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. And their size is almost the same: the Redmi Note 9 Pro is 6.67 inches, the Realme 6 Pro is 6.6 inches. Both displays use the IPS technology. The screens are of good quality. They are vibrant with accurate color reproduction. The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a small round cutout in the display for the front camera, located in the center. The Realme 6 Pro has an set of the cameras in the corner that covers a fairly large screen area. The displays on both models are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 with an effective oleophobic coating.
The Realme 6 Pro screen can run at an increased frequency of 90Hz. This allows you to achieve smooth images in animations and dynamic scenes. And this is the Realme’s advantage over the competitor.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with the Android 10 with the proprietary MIUI 11 shell installed with advanced customization options and improved functionality. There are many additional functions here – the second space, gesture control, one-handed control, and voice recorder. The interface is flexibly customizable to the tastes of a particular user. There are tons of free themes available. The downside to MIUI is the rather intrusive in-app ads. But if desired, it can be removed from the shell. There will be an update to MIUI 12 with new features and more colorful design in the near future.
The Realme 6 Pro also has Android 10 with the new Realme UI skin. The developers took ColorOS 7 as a basis, but slightly changed the interface. It has become simpler, more convenient and more flexible. For example, the users can customize the appearance of icons, change their size, shape and transparency. There are many new interesting wallpapers. There is a special regime for protecting personal information, which blocks the access of applications to personal data.
Both models use the tenth version of Android with comfortable and functional shells. A draw here!
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has four rear cameras, which are located on a separate square platform:
- The first camera is the main module 64 megapixel with an aperture of f / 1.9;
- The second is a wide-angle 8 megapixel camera;
- The third is a 5 megapixel macro camera;
- And the 2 megapixel depth sensor.
In general, the smartphone shoots well with the main camera. But sometimes you can experience some blurring around the edges in the photographs or some lags with the night photography mode. Apparently, this happens because of the software, and over time, the manufacturer will improve the camera. The quality of shooting with a wide-angle camera is mediocre, especially if the lighting is not ideal. The macro camera allows you to take good photos at close range.
The Realme 6 Pro also has four cameras:
- The first one is the main module for 64 megapixels with a Samsung GW1 sensor and an aperture of f / 1.8;
- The second is a 12 megapixel telephoto lens;
- The third is a wide-angle 8 megapixel;
- The fourth is a 2 megapixel macro camera.
The main module of the Realme 6 Pro is also 64 megapixels. It takes photos of about the same quality as its today’s competitor. The Realme has slightly higher dynamic range, but less details. The artificial intelligence tends to oversaturate and sometimes even change colors to make it look beautiful. In the night mode you can experience some blurring at the edges of the photo. But if you use a tripod, the photo quality is very good. There is a special Tripod mode for this.
I like the Realme’s wide-angle camera a little more than the Xiaomi’s. It has a higher dynamic range. But it also needs good lighting to work properly. At the same time the macro camera is a little worse. The main advantage of the Realme over the competitor is the telephoto lens. This is a great replacement for the useless depth sensor of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. The telephoto lens allows you to get good photos with 2x optical zoom not only during the day but also at night. But I don’t really like how the 5x hybrid zoom works, especially in low light.
Both models shoot 4K video with good detail but mediocre stabilization. When shooting in 1080p, the stabilization works much better.
Both models are 16 megapixel front cameras. The Realme 6 Pro has an additional 8 megapixel wide-angle module. I liked the Xiaomi’s front camera better. It has higher dynamic range and clarity. In addition, the Realme doesn’t show the colors correctly again. But the Realme’s front camera, unlike the competitor’s camera, can shoot video with stabilization. And the additional wide-angle module can sometimes come in handy.
Both smartphones have good cameras. I would still say that with a minimal advantage the Realme 6 Pro takes the victory here.
The smartphones have the same processors. This is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with Adreno 618 video accelerator. They are quite powerful. The chipset is made using modern 8-nanometer technology. In every day use, the smartphones run fast and run almost all heavy games without overheating or throttling.
The in-built memory in both models can be 64 or 128 gigabytes, the RAM is 6 gigabytes. The Realme 6 Pro also has an advanced version with 8 gigabytes of RAM. The in-built memory can be expanded in both models by installing an SD-stick in a separate slot.
The smartphones support 4G on both SIM cards in all popular bands. There is Wi-Fi at 2.4 and 5 Gigahertz, and the Bluetooth 5. There are NFC modules for contactless payments. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also has an infrared port for controlling home appliances.
Both models are equipped with large batteries. The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 5020 mAh battery, while the Realme 6 Pro has a weaker 4300 mAh battery. The Xiaomi smartphone’s batter lasts for a long time. The battery can last for two or even three days in a usual mode. The Realme will last a day, maximum two. The smartphones support fast charging, but not wireless. They both come with a powerful 30-watt charger.
In terms of autonomy, the Redmi Note 9 Pro wins.
As always, we’ve read some reviews on the Internet about the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Realme 6 Pro. Let’s start with the negatives.
