Hello, everyone! Today we’re going to compare two smartphones – the Xiaomi Redmi 9 and the Samsung Galaxy A21s. In the description under the, as usual, I will leave links to various resources where you can compare the cost of these smartphones. Well, in the meantime, I’m going to tell you about the differences between the screen, camera, performance and other parameters in the Xiaomi Redmi 9 and the Samsung Galaxy A21s.

Now sit back and enjoy the comparison of the Xiaomi Redmi 9 and the Samsung Galaxy A21s. Let’s get sarted!

 Appearance

The smartphones are very different in their appearance. Among the few common features, they have almost the same dimensions and a body made of plastic.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is a rather large and heavy smartphone, so it won’t be very convenient to use it with one hand. And not every pocket will fit such a smartphone. The screen of the Redmi 9 has rather narrow side and top bezels, a miniature waterdrop notch for the front camera and a slightly wider bottom bezel. The manufacturer placed the keys responsible for adjusting the volume and turning on on the right side of the smartphone. The left has a slot for SIM cards and memory cards. There is a speaker, microphone, minijack and USB Type-C connector on the underside of the Redmi 9.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s is also a fairly large smartphone, but slightly thinner and lighter than its opponent. As for the screen, like that of the rival, it has narrow side and top frames with a slightly wider bottom. But the manufacturer in this smartphone decided to place the front camera in a round cutout, which is located in the upper left corner of the screen. The arrangement of the elements on the case is similar to that of the Redmi 9. The volume and power buttons in the smartphone are on the right, and there is a slot for two SIM cards and a memory card on the opposite side. Well, on the underside of the smartphone there is a microphone, a minijack, and a USB-Type C connector.

But on the reverse side, the smartphones have much more differences. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has a vertical camera unit located in the center of the back cover and enclosed in a circle that differs in texture from the surface of the back cover. There is also a fingerprint scanner. It works quickly and flawlessly. As for the material of the back cover, matte plastic is used here, the advantage of which is that there are no fingerprints on it. And in the hands, a smartphone with such a coating is more reliable. You can buy the Xiaomi Redmi 9 in three colors: gray, green or blue-purple.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s has a rectangular camera unit, in contrast to its rival. It is located in the upper left corner. And there is a fingerprint scanner in the center of the back. It works quickly, no worse than the opponent’s. The back of the smartphone is made of glossy plastic. This is not good, because such material quickly becomes covered with fingerprints. The Galaxy A21s is available in black, red or blue.

 Screen

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has an IPS screen with a diagonal of 6.53 inches and a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels. It has excellent color reproduction and wide viewing angles, as well as a good margin of brightness, so that text and images are more or less clearly visible in the sun.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s has a slightly smaller screen which diagonal is 6.5 inches. But the resolution is significantly different from the rival’s screen – it is only 720 by 1600 pixels. Therefore, upon closer inspection, you can notice some graininess. The rest of the screen is not bad: wide angles, good color rendering and an acceptable level of brightness. However, due to the resolution in this round, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 has a clear advantage.

Software

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has Android 10 version and MIUI 11 proprietary shell. This shell has a pleasant and easy-to-use interface. It supports gesture and one-handed operation, various cosmetic settings, such as the color temperature of the display and hiding the “drop”, cloning applications, split screen function, dark theme and much more. MIUI is loved by many users for its versatility and user-friendly interface. True, this shell has a lot of in-built advertising and many unnecessary applications. But as practice shows, it’s not difficult to get rid of them.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s also runs on 10th Android, and uses proprietary shell One UI 2.0. In the last update, this shell received minor cosmetic changes. The fonts have become tidier, the icons have changed slightly. It also slightly changed the notification bar and the settings menu for more convenient user interaction with smartphones with large screens. In addition, the Galaxy A21s is equipped with Samsung Knox security system, which protects users’ personal data from viruses and malicious attacks.

 Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has a 13-megapixel module as the main camera. This will allow you to take good-quality pictures, but only in good lighting. In addition, the smartphone has a 2-megapixel depth sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a 5-megapixel macro camera. To be honest, they are installed here more for show. However, with good lighting and appropriate skills, you can take good pictures. The front camera of the Redmi 9 boasts a resolution of 8 megapixels. You can take good selfies with it, which will not be a shame to post on social networks. As for video shooting, Full HD video recording is available.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s, in contrast to the rival, received a 48-megapixel main camera. It produces vibrant photos with realistic color reproduction and good detail. In general, you can get quite good shots on it in daylight. An average user will be satisfied with their quality. But at night, the quality of the pictures drops noticeably. As for the rest of the camera modules, as in the Redmi 9, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a pair of 2-megapixel sensors are installed. They are responsible for blurring the background and macro shooting. But they don’t have much use. However, the front camera of the Galaxy A21s has a resolution of 13 megapixels and even in low light conditions, the photos are juicy and bright. Selfie lovers will appreciate it. As for video shooting, Full HD video recording is available.

Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is equipped with a Mediatek Helio G80 processor, which is quite good for this price segment, made using a 12-nanometer process technology. This smartphone has two memory options: 3 and 32 GB or 4 and 64 GB of RAM and internal memory, respectively. For game lovers, I recommend purchasing the second option. This will allow you to play many game hits not only at minimum, but also at medium settings. Well, as for the built-in memory, if the volume offered by the manufacturer seems small, then you can always install a memory card in a smartphone.

The Galaxy A21s has a proprietary Exynos 850 chipset, made using an 8-nanometer process technology. It is not as nimble as the Helio G80 found in the Redmi 9, but when combined with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, it provides excellent performance in everyday use and even allows you to run some 3D games. At the same time you should keep in mind that comfortable FPS can be obtained only at the minimum settings. As for the in-built memory, it can be either 32 or 64 GB in the smartphone. Both smartphones have a slot for a memory card.

Network

As for the communication capabilities, both smartphones perfectly pick up signals from mobile and wireless networks. They are equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, and allow contactless payments thanks to the presence of NFC.

Battery

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 demonstrates excellent battery life thanks to its 5020 mAh battery. In balanced use, the battery lasts 2 days without any problems. It is also worth noting that the smartphone supports fast charging, but the corresponding charger will have to be purchased separately.

The Samsung Galaxy A21s can also go for 2 days on a single charge, thanks to its 5,000mAh battery. It also supports fast charging technology from a 15W power adapter.
