Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to have a competition between a new long-awaited flagship the Xiaomi Mi 10 and the first model from the tenth family – the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 camera phone. Let’s see if the new smartphone is better or the Mi Note 10 has its own advantages.
The appearance of both models is very similar. They have large screens with curved edges and minimal frames. The chin on the new Mi 10 has become even smaller than the one of the Mi Note 10. Both smartphones are quite large and heavy, they weigh more than 200 grams, but they are quite comfortable to hold in your hand. The smartphones have a different cutout shape for the front camera. The Mi 10 has a small hole located in the upper left corner, while the Mi Note 10 has a traditional drop-shaped cutout.
The Mi 10 has the power and volume buttons placed on the right side . Below there is a speaker, a USB Type-C connector and a SIM card tray. There is a spoken speaker, noise reduction microphone, infrared port and another speaker a bove . Finally, the flagship Xiaomi implemented a full stereo sound. Its competitor does not have stereo sound.
There is the Type-C port, speaker, SIM card tray and headphone jack o n the bottom of the Mi Note 10 . The advantage of this smartphone is the presence of a 3.5 millimeter jack. The new flagship does not have such a connector. The package though has an adapter from Type-C to ordinary headphones. On top of the Mi Note 10 there is a noise canceling microphone and an infrared port. On the right there is the volume rocker and the power button.
The cameras on the rear panel of both models are located in the same row in the upper left corner. There are four of them in the Mi 10, and five in the Mi Note 10. I liked that the manufacturer did not succumb to universal fashion and did not make a separate large rectangular area under the camera. What about you? Do you like the design of cameras in new iPhones and Samsung? Please write your comments below.
The fingerprint scanner for both models is built into the screen. It works equally well, but the one in the new Mi 10 works faster. The back panel of both models is made of glass, the frame is metal.
The Mi 10 is available in silver-black, peach-gold, or aqua. The Mi Note 10 is present in black, white, or green. Both smartphones look interesting and modern, even though they are quite bulky and heavy. But it’s quite fine because the smartphones are equipped with large screens and capacious batteries.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 has a large flagship screen with a diagonal of 6.67 inches with a resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels and an increased refresh rate of 90 Hertz. The response frequency of the screen sensor is 180 hertz. The display is made by AMOLED technology. It is very bright and contrasting. The maximum brightness reaches 1120 nits. The hole for the front camera is located in the upper left corner and is only 4 millimeters.
The Mi Note 10 Super AMOLED screen is slightly smaller – it is 6.47 inches with the same resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels. The display is inferior in brightness, it is 600 nits. The screen has large viewing angles, accurate color reproduction, deep black color. It does not flicker because of the DC Dimming function.
Both models feature the Always On Display function. The screens are rounded on the sides. It looks good from a design point of view, but additional glare may appear at the edges of the screen which may cause false alarms. If you use the included silicone case, then there will definitely not be any false clicks on the edges of the screen. The displays on both models are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 with a good oleophobic coating.
The screen on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is very good, but the new Mi 10 is even better. It is brighter and supports a higher refresh rate. The Xiaomi Mi 10 won this round with a slight advantage.
The the Xiaomi Mi 10 runs on the new Android 10, and the Mi Note 10 runs on the Android 9 . There is the MIUI 11 proprietary shell installed with advanced settings and improved functions.
Let’s start with the Xiaomi Mi Note 10’s cameras. Looking ahead I’ll say that they are more interesting than the competitor’s. The Mi Note 10 was the first mass-produced phone with a camera of 108 megapixels. All in all, it has five rear cameras:
- The first is the main module with a Sumsung Isocell Bright HMX sensor at 108 megapixels, an aperture of f / 1.7 with optical stabilization;
- The second camera is a 5 megapixel telephoto with fivex optical zoom and hardware stabilization;
- The third is a wide-angle camera of 20 megapixels with a viewing angle of 117 degrees;
- The fourth module is a telephoto for portraits of 12 megapixels with an equivalent focal length of 50 mm;
- And the last one is a 2 megapixel macro camera.
The Mi Note 10 camera overtook the leader of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro according to the Dx0Mark test. It has a huge 1 / 1.33 “matrix according to the standards of mobile photography. For comparison, the excellent Huawei P30 Pro camera phone has a 1 / 1.7” matrix. The camera is really good. Maybe it almost falls short of the dynamic range, but it has an amazing detail feature. Someone may complain about its color rendering, but this is largely a matter of taste. I really like how the main module takes pictures. Thanks to optical stabilization, chic shots are obtained even in the night mode.
Two megapixels for a macro camera is not enough, which is reflected in the mediocre quality of shooting with this sensor. And the rest of the modules are good. Optical zoom works great with the help of the hardware stabilization. The wide-angle camera works well during the day, but not very well at night. There is just no optical stabilization. But the portrait camera is especially impressive, which without any additional sensors perfectly blurs the background. Moreover, the degree of blur can be adjusted while using it.
If we talk about video capabilities, then not everything is so good even despite the fact that the same Dx0 Mark puts the camcorder in first place in its rating after its release . Despite the hardware support, the stabilization is far from perfect. The camera shoots chic slow-mo in 1080p at 240 frames per second, it has good detail and accurate autofocus. In the Mi Note 10, the manufacturer finally managed to achieve a clear and deep sound on the videos.
The front camera of the Mi Note 10 is equipped with a 32 megapixel sensor. It gives very good selfies with excellent detail and color reproduction. Blurring background works correctly.
Let’s move on to the cameras of the new Xiaomi Mi 10. Here the main module is the same as in the Mi Note. Therefore, the quality of photography is about the same. But processing photos takes less time. The Mi Note 10 is too thoughtful when shooting in 108 megapixel mode.
The wide-angle camera on the new flagship is worse both in megapixels where there are 13 of them, and in aperture ratio. Two worthless sensors are also installed here – a macro camera and a depth sensor, both 2 megapixels. They can only be seen as elements of marketing and back cover design. The front camera also lacks in megapixels. The flagship has only 20 of them. But the quality of shooting a selfie still remained high.
The video capabilities of the camera have expanded. The new smartphone can shoot video in 8K resolution with a frequency of 30 and in 4K with a frequency of 60 frames per second.
Let’s sum up the results of this round. In my opinion, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 takes better photos due to its advanced additional cameras, while the Xiaomi Mi 10 can shoot video in 8K quality. Nevertheless, for me, the photo capabilities of the sub-flagman are higher. So, the victory here goes to the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 super-powerful processor with an Adreno 650 video accelerator. In addition, the fastest RAM LPDDR5 with a capacity of 8 or 12 gigabytes and high-speed UFS 3.0 permanent memory with a capacity of 128 or 256 gigabytes are used. In terms of performance, it is a true flagship without any compromise. The power of the smartphone is not just at the maximum level, but it is even overpowerful at the moment .
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor with an Adreno 618 video accelerator. This is a smart processor but it’s far from the flagship. The chipset is made using the modern 8-nanometer technology. The phone is fast i n everyday use . The letter G in the processor name comes from the word “game”. Indeed, the processor pulls all the heavy games without overheating and throttling.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 comes in only one configuration – 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of permanent memory without the possibility of expanding it, like its competitor. Unlike the new smartphone, the Mi Note 10 uses a slower RAM of the previous generation.
In terms of productivity, even though the performance of the Mi Note 10 isn’t low, the Xiaomi Mi 10 wins with a big advantage .
The Xiaomi Mi 10 is ready to work on a 5G network. In addition, the smartphone supports the sixth-generation Wi-Fi with almost three times the maximum speed compared to its competitor. The communication capabilities of the Mi Note 10 are modern, but wuthout anything special. All necessary frequencies are supported, there is 4G on both SIM cards, dual-band Wi-Fi, the fifth Bluetooth. Both models are equipped with NFC modules and infrared ports. So, the new Xiaomi Mi 10 also wins here.
Both models have capacious batteries. The battery of the Xiaomi Mi 10 has a capacity of 4780 mAh, and the Mi Note 10’s capacity is 5260 mAh. The autonomy is at a high level. The new Mi 10, unlike its competitor, supports wireless and reverse charging.
The smartphones support fast charging. Both smartphones come with a very powerful 30-watt charger.
As always, we’ve read the reviews on the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi Note 10 smartphones from the Internet. Let’s start with the negatives.

So, let’s sum it up. The new Xiaomi Mi 10 won in almost all rounds. It has an excellent screen, phenomenal performance, good stereo sound, it supports 5G, wireless charging and ultra-fast Wi-Fi. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has its own strengths, too. There is an enhanced photo capabilities due to the presence of additional cameras. Therefore, for amateur photographers, the Mi Note 10 would be a great choice. If you are not a fan of photography, then the Xiaomi Mi 10 is a good option, especially since the main camera with 108 megapixels is very good. Well, if you’re not satisfied with a compromise and you need the best of the best, not just the latest most expensive iPhone or Samsung, then your choice is the advanced flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, which has absorbed all the strengths of the models considered today.
