Oneplus 7T vs Honor View 20

Hello, everyone! Today, I will tell you about two very interesting smartphones: The OnePlus 7T and the Honor View 20. In this video, we will take a look at the main features of the two flagships. And in the end, we will definitely focus on the main pros and cons of each model.

We’ll start the comparison with an overview of the appearances of these smartphones. First, let’s focus on the more recent device – the OnePlus 7T. The front panel of the model is not too different from its predecessors. On the front, there is the usual teardrop-shaped neckline in the upper portion. Above is the earpiece. The side-frames are minimal, but still present. The diagonal of the display is 6.55 inches, and it is covered with protective Gorilla Glass.

The side faces are no different from the usual seven and Pro version. On the right is the power button and the mechanism for switching call modes. On the left side, there is only a volume rocker. The SIM card slot, USB Type-C connector, and speaker for the speakerphone are located at the bottom. Here, you can find an additional microphone.

The rear glass panel attracts maximum attention to itself. Three cameras and a flash are located in a glass circle. This decision led to an increase in the thickness of the casing to 10.2 millimeters. The rest of the panel is made of frosted glass, which does not collect fingerprints.

As for the dimensions of the OnePlus 7T: it has a height of 160.9 millimeters, a width width of 74.4, and a thickness of 8.1 millimeters. The smartphone weighs 190 grams.

Now let’s move on to the Honor View 20. I want to note a rather interesting hole for the front camera. The display, by the way, is a bit smaller here. It’s 6.4 inches. The entire panel is protected by glass. The minimal side frames are also striking. Above the screen, the engineers managed to place a small speaker for phone conversations.

The side faces of the Honor View 20 are no different from those of most smartphones. On the right is the power button and volume rocker, on the left is a slot for two SIM cards. At the bottom, we can see the Type-C connector and a speaker for multimedia. On the top, there is an audio jack and an infrared port. The base of the View 20, like the 7T, is made of metal.

The back panel is made of glass with a glossy finish. In all color variants except black, the gradient pattern in the form of the letter V is clearly visible. The main camera module is moved to the upper-left corner. The lens is removed separately from the unit with a 3D sensor and flash. A fingerprint scanner is also located here.

The hull of the Honor View 20 has the following dimensions: A height of 156.9 millimeters, a width of 75.4 millimeters, and a thickness of 8.1. The smartphone weighs 180 grams.

The OnePlus 7T, traditionally, has a good AMOLED matrix. Its diagonal is 6.55 inches, and the aspect ratio is 20 to 9. OnePlus engineers immediately pleased consumers with two features. First of all, the fingerprint scanner under the glass is particularly noteworthy. It works well and quickly.

The next feature is support for a frequency of 90 hertz. The high refresh rate of this phone makes animations smoother, and also improves image quality in games. Moreover, in the settings, you can set the refresh rare to the more familiar 60 hertz. I want to draw your attention to the possibility of manually switching the screen resolution between QHD + and FullHD +.

The Honor View 20 pleases with an equally high-quality matrix, but it is made using IPS technology. The diagonal is 6.4 inches. By resolution, the model is inferior to the OnePlus. This Honor model’s screen gives the classic FullHD resolution. Despite this nuance, the matrix has good color rendering and contrast. The phone is convenient to use both in bright sunshine and in complete darkness.

To place the front camera, engineers used the AllView format. When working with the device, the camera’s eye distracts much less than the bangs. It seems that the screen is not a cutout for the camera, but one of the interface elements.

At the time of the release, the OnePlus 7T was one of the first smartphones with Android 10. The proprietary Oxygen OS shell was also updated. The main feature here is gesture controls. Also noteworthy are quick response features and redesigned privacy settings. The developers also focused on the popular dark theme, which is now available in all applications. It appears in the updated version of the system along with the DC Dimming option. With its help, you can reduce the flicker of the screen, and, accordingly, reduce the load on the eyes.

When the Honor’s View 20 was initially released, it was equipped with Android 9. However, by the end of November, all devices will be updated to the tenth version. The appearance of a new proprietary shell, Magic UI 3.0, is anticipated. The phone retains the usual features, but works much faster. Most of the changes are related to menu design and new animations. Stability and safety remain at the usual high level.

The main camera of OnePlus 7T consists of three modules. The main one is a Sony IMX586 at 48 megapixels with digital and optical stabilization. In this case, the engineers used Quad Bayer technology, which allows you to take 12-megapixel photos with increased detail. There are also auxiliary modules: telephoto 12 megapixels and wide-angle 16 megapixels.

The smartphone can take photos in several modes. Among the most interesting are night and triple optical zoom. Video recording at maximum settings is possible in 4K at 60 frames per second. Optical stabilization is activated automatically. The ability to record slow-motion clips in FullHD at 240 frames per second is pretty impressive.

A front camera with 16 megapixels gives high-quality photos, and also allows you to shoot video in FullHD resolution.

The Honor View 20 received a more modest set of modules. At the core is the same Sony IMX586 with a resolution of 48 megapixels. Photos are rich and colorful. The artificial intelligence module helps improve images in low light. An auxiliary 3D sensor is needed for clearer portrait photos.

The View 20 can shoot video in 4K, but only at 30 frames per second. The smartphone also has slow-motion shooting in HD-resolution. There is no optical stabilization in this model.

The front camera shoots at a resolution of 25 megapixels and pleases the eyes with good detail and color reproduction. It is possible to record video in FullHD resolution. This phone has a Face ID functions, so you can unlock the phone with a simple look.

OnePlus 7T received the flagship Snapdragon 855+, made with 7 nanometer technology. The Adreno 640 chipset is responsible for the graphics. The model is available in variants. One with 128 gigabytes of intrnal memory, and one with 256 gigabytes. The amount of RAM remains unchanged at 8 gigabytes. There is no microSD card support in the 7T.

Honor’s View 20 is equipped with the flagship Kirin 980 chipset. It is built with the 7 nanometer process technology and is only slightly inferior to the Snapdragon counterpart. This smartphone uses the Mali-G76 video accelerator. The Honor View 20 comes in two versions with 4 or 6 gigabytes of RAM, and 64 or 128 gigabytes of internal memory. It’s not possible to install a microSD card to expand the memory.

In terms of communication capabilities, the OnePlus 7T and the Honor View 20 are all equally good. Both models have Wi-Fi with support for networking in 5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and modules for contactless payment. There is support for all relevant mobile frequencies in the CIS countries. The Honor smartphone really stands out due to the presence of an infrared port, with which you can control household appliances.

The OnePlus 7T is equipped with a 3800 mAh battery with support for fast charging. The model is equipped with a 30-watt fast charger, which provides a full charge in less than 1 hour. The battery capacity is enough for a day of operation of the device at medium loads.

The battery capacity of the Honor View 20 is slightly larger. It has a 4000 mAh battery. This smartphone supports fast charging, and a 22.5-watt charger comes in the box. Good optimization of the processor and graphical shell allow the device to work for up to two days.

I analyzed the reviews of these models on the internet, and now I’ll tell you what the users most often write about. To start, I will focus on negative reviews.

OnePlus 7T

  1. The battery life is frustratingly short
  2. No wireless charging; not a great value
  3. The retractable camera in the 7 Pro looks better than the front cutout

Honor View 20

  1. The sound in the dynamics could be better
  2. Cannot insert a memory card
  3. Face recognition does not work sometimes

OnePlus 7T

  1. The camera is incredible! Especially the night mode
  2. The 90 hertz screen is really something; now I don’t want to look at ordinary IPS’s
  3. The shell is comfortable and the games run at maximum speed
  4. Cool body, especially the back frosted glass panel

Honor View 20

  1. The hole in the display looks beautiful and does not distract
  2. Convenient fingerprint scanner, better than sub-screens
  3. Any games are played with a bang
  4. The camera is the best in its price-class

The OnePlus 7T and the Honor View 20 are largely different devices. But the concept of inexpensive flagships unites them. Each model copes with its tasks in its own worthy manner. The OnePlus 7T has a good AMOLED matrix, but the 90 hertz refresh rate negatively affects the battery life. The Honor View 20 received an interesting design and a set of branded chips, but the main camera is not suitable for everyone.
