Honor 9X vs Huawei P Smart Z. Comparison!

Our comparison of the Honor 9X and Huawei P Smart Z will start with their designs.

Both smartphones have a lot in common in terms of appearance. The sizes of the devices practically the same, differing by tenths of a millimeter. But at the same time, the Honor 9X weighs more than its opponent – 206 grams, against the 196.6 grams of the Huawei P Smart Z. It is also worth noting that both smartphones received retractable front cameras and large screens with narrow frames that occupy more than 84% of the front surface of smartphones.

The location of the elements in the Honor 9X is as follows: Next to the front camera is a combined slot for two nano-SIM cards. Or, one SIM card and a microSD memory card. One of the speakers is located above the display, and the second is placed on the bottom of the smartphone. On the bottom there is a microphone, a 3.5 mm mini-jack and a Type-C connector. On the right are the volume buttons and a fingerprint scanner. Depressing both the volume buttons at once serves as the power on / off function.

Huawei P Smart Z also has a slot for two SIM cards and a memory card on the upper edge. Above the screen is the first speaker of the smartphone. The second is on the bottom. There are also a microphone, 3.5 mm jack, and a Type-C connector. The volume and power keys are located on the right as well.

The back of the Honor 9X has an original design. It is engraved in the form of the letter “X”, which changes in the light and sets the smartphone apart from other devices. However, only the red and blue versions of the Honor 9X have this feature. The smartphone can also be purchased in black, but without the original engraving. As for the working elements of the rear surface of the device, it only has a camera module with flash located in the upper left corner.

Huawei P Smart Z also has a flash on the back, but it is located separately from the cameras themselves. Another difference in the appearance of the Huawei P Smart Z from the Honor 9X is that the P Smart’s fingerprint scanner is located at the back. It works quickly and accurately, plus you can assign additional operations on it. For example, opening the notification curtain. As for colors, the smartphone comes in Emerald Green, Midnight Black, or Sapphire Blue. In this case, the back surface is not one solid color, but divided into two parts with different shades of color.

The Honor 9X has a screen with a diagonal of 6.59 inches. An IPS matrix is used, with a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5 to 9. The screen occupies 84.7% of the front surface. The matrix has rather high rates of contrast, brightness, detail, and wide viewing angles. There are several modes. Among them is eye protection, which really stands out. Also in Honor 9X, you can adjust the color scheme using several customization options.

The Huawei P Smart Z also has a 6.59-inch IPS screen, but the front surface ratio of this smartphone is less than that of the opponent – 84.3%. The screen resolution is 1080 by 2340 pixels, and the aspect ratio is 19.5 to 9. Because of its characteristics and adjustment options, the screen is identical to the Honor 9X’s.

The Honor 9X and Huawei P Smart Z are both running Android 9 Pie with the EMUI 9 shell, which has received a number of changes in the design of wallpapers and icons in the latest update. Application icons have now become flat and increased in size. There’s gesture controls and a new voice assistant in this shell. There is also video recording from the screen lasting up to 1 minute. Additionally, the updated shell has improvements in performance and the speed of reading data. This is thanks to the new file system. It supports GPU Turbo 3.0 technology for games, which reduces smartphone power consumption by 10% and optimizes system performance for continuous gameplay.

The Honor 9X has a main camera consisting of two lenses – the main wide-angle sensor Sony IMX582 at 48 megapixels, as well as a depth sensor at 2 megapixels. There is also an LED flash in this smartphone. The camera has HDR modes, panoramas, and many useful settings that allow you to take high-quality pictures – even in low light. Video is recorded in Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second. As for the front camera, it has a resolution of 16 megapixels, takes highly detailed pictures, and can record video in Full HD resolution.

The Huawei P Smart Z has a main camera consisting of a 16 megapixel main module and an additional 2 megapixel depth sensor. With sufficient lighting on such a camera, you can get quite good pictures with natural color reproduction and accurate white balance. To create pictures with good detail in the dark, the smartphone has a night mode. Video is recorded in Full HD at 30 frames per second. The 16 megapixel front camera is identical to the one used in the Honor 9X. It takes decent quality photos in portrait mode, knows how to blur the background, and record video in Full HD resolution.
